Sending Photos Via Email

Having problems with the pictures you’d want to send via email to your friend? Here are some basic guidelines and tips as to how you can be able to transfer pictures to your computer and send them out with ease to your friends.

The first thing you’d have to do is consider if the photos can transfer at a reasonable speed. Typical digital photos usually exceed 5 mega bytes. It will then take 15-20 minutes just to transfer the picture.

An important thing to consider when preparing your picture is Pixels. This is because the medium to view the picture (the monitor) is based on resolution settings called pixels. The common pixels of monitors are 800 by 600 pixels. It is not important to remember how much pixels per inch your picture has. The most important thing to know is the total pixels your picture has.

Here is an example of pixel settings that will affect your pictures. Most monitors are set at 800 by 600 pixels. So it is important to know that you would want your picture to be sent within these pixels. If you exceed, the viewer will need to scroll down just to view the whole picture.

You may want to try cutting the pixel of your pictures to half. Whether it is portrait or landscape, you may want to cut down the pixels to half. If the width of the picture is around 800 pixels, it may be best to make it down to 400 pixels.

Don’t worry about the size of the monitor affecting the size of the picture you have sent when you have cut down the pixels. If the person you are sending uses a 15 inch monitor, there will be no problems viewing the picture. Remember the pictures size will only differ on the pixels set on that monitor.

Try not to exceed the file size of your picture to be more than 100 kb. This is because the picture will take a longer time to load. People will probably forget about viewing the image you sent if it will take them ages to load it.

Save your picture as a jpg or jpeg file then compress them if they really are big files. Compress the picture to around 50 kb or depends on the quality you would want to have. The file size you choose really depends on you. If you are sending multiple pictures its best to reduce the file size and vice versa if you are sending just one picture. It will also depend if you are willing to sacrifice the quality.

To keep things simpler, the pixels of the picture should be 400 wide and 300-350 in height. Save the picture as a jpg or jpeg file at the file size of 25-65 KB.
